Friday: Arrive in Placencia
Once you arrive in Placencia, a shuttle driver from the Mariposa Beach Resort will pick you up and drive you to this charming, all-inclusive Belize resort that’s just steps from the beach.
After you check in, spend the afternoon exploring the charms of Placencia Village. The village is close enough to walk to from the resort, or you can hop in a golf cart. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the great restaurants or cafes. When you’re finished, head back to the Mariposa to enjoy a cocktail as you watch the sun set on the Caribbean.
Saturday: Explore the Wild Side
On Saturday, head out early to visit the glorious Silk Cayes. The offshore islands near Placencia Village are some of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world. Take a boat from Placencia to spend the day sunning, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving or swimming. Stop at Laughing Bird Caye National Park, a nature preserve that is home to many rare, protected bird and mammal species.
If you prefer, take a trip inland to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. This spectacularly scenic park is the world’s first jaguar preserve. It features well-marked, scenic hiking trails, breathtaking views and plenty of waterfalls where you can cool off with a swim. You may not see any jaguars, but you are likely to see ocelots, deer, iguanas, monkeys, tropical birds and other animals.
Sunday: Visit the Belize Barrier Reef
Take a trip to the second largest barrier reef in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-see for any visitor to Belize. Explore the protected marine reserves where you can spot sea turtles, manatees, lobsters and reef fish. Sail, fish or snorkel in the clear blue waters of the Caribbean. It’s an unforgettable adventure you can only have in Belize.
Monday: Head Back Home
Start your day with a delicious breakfast and fresh coffee at the Mariposa Beach Resort. Our shuttle will take you back to the airport. You’ll head home with some amazing memories.
